Mission Organise - Part One

OK I have to admit, I am a tad on the messy side when it comes to my clothes, accessories and beauty products. My other half says I am not allowed to buy anything else until it is all sorted MEH. I keep hold of all my shopping bags, nice perfume boxes, pointless trinkets and magazines, lots and lots of magazines but it’s all got to go.
So the big clear out/up has begun, I am calling it mission organise! I have already started by using the Ikea cosmetics organiser which I got on Saturday (which apparently I will fill up with more crap I don’t need and it caused a row in the middle of Ikea) I am very happy with it and I have put my everyday beauty products in there. I still have a full tray under the bed which is pictured below, I need to sort that too!
I have also organised my clothes into piles of trousers, tops etc which I know is standard procedure for a wardrobe, baby steps! It immediately feels 10 times better. Next mission is to sort out my manky plastic hangers which I HATE, they don’t even fit on the rail properly! so the next part of the tidying will be mission crappy hanger. I also need to sort out some hanging space for my jewellery - I am thinking of putting some kind of hook next to the wall on the window - its empty space which needs to be used!
I also have to say that the first pic was after I had started tidying - it was actually a lot worse than this (ashamed smiley)
I finished part one of the mission yesterday, really chuffed I called my husband upstairs to have a look, eagerly waiting for a comment like "wow it looks brilliant" all I got was "I wonder how long that will last" double MEH
I need tips and Ideas to make sure I keep on top of my newly acquired tidying skills - if you have any ideas please send them my way!

  1. haha we are on the same mission! My other half took me to Ikea today for a mini set of drawers to put my make up in, while I was there I picked up some little boxes to put inside my wardrobe. I have a massive clear out every few months but my stuff never looks any tidier :( Well done on that though, I know by experience that it takes ages! xox

  2. HAHA - I absolutely LOVE this post! I have been telling myself recently that I can't buy ANYTHING until I do all my laundry and clean my closet up. I broke this rule the first day that I said it - haha! My closet seriously looks like yours used to, it really does give me anxiety, but I'm too lazy to do anything about it. A few months ago when I actually cleaned my closet up, I bought 4 separate laundry baskets that stack on top of each other so I could go ahead and sort my laundry and just carry the basket to the Washer. It worked for quite a while, you could try that to stay organized.... GOOD LUCK!

  7. I'm a personal stylist and do wardrobe maintenance, and the first thing I do is make 3 piles, things to keep, things to ebay/charity shop, and then next of things that the client doesn't wear than can be customised or altered. If you do the same with make up and cosmetics, you'd be amazed how tidier things get, as if you're anything like me, you'll have loads with just a tiny bit in the bottom that you've not used for ages! happy tidying!!

  15. I honestly thought I was the most unorganised person in the whole world! Thank the lord I'm not! ha ha. This has made me feel a whole lot better. The thing is I can generally tidy up it's just having the motivation to keep it that way - I am a true horder and nothing gets thrown away unless it has no use at all!! I've even kept old tights to strain chinese tea leaves - What's all that about??
You have truly inspired me to have a clear out - Going to start on my office today - Will post on my blog. Might even have a crack at Feng Shui heard it keeps you chi clean?! ha ha anything is worth a go.
Thanks again for a great push.

  16. I think keeping a good picture in your mind of how you want your living space to be like is always a good motivator, and clean whenever you can, little bits at a time helps loads! Also rewarding yourself every time you tidy up is a good idea, but maybe just reward yourself with a nice coffee or something, not more clothes to tidy away!
