Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub Review

If you tend to get flaky skin on your lips then you need to take note of this post. Personally I  get dry flaky lips every few days which seems to appear for no reason. If I wear a lot of lippy – I get flaky lips, if I go au natural – I get flaky lips, if I just wear lip balm – I get flaky lips, I think you get the point. It’s just one of those things, but it is really annoying when I go out for the day and start off with relatively normal lips but by mid afternoon my lipstick has gathered into the flakes, gross! Don’t get me wrong it is not a mega problem, more of an irritation which pops up frequently.

I came across this lip scrub when I was last in LUSH, I thought that this might be a suitable product to help with the flakiness. There are three to choose from -Mint Julips (mint choc), Sweet Lips (chocolate) and bubblegum. I did not like the smell of sweet lips and was immediately drawn to the pink bubblegum pot. Not only does it smell delicious but it tastes delicious too, the last application direction says you can lick off whatever is left after the treatment.

So the directions are to apply to the lips and massage in a circular motion all over, I concentrated on the centre of the bottom lip as this is the trouble area. Once you have scrubbed until satisfied you then lick it off. Now if you are on a diet this can become a dangerous habit as it is very sweet, in fact it is mostly sugar and oil (wonder what the calories are in that!). I use this most nights and follow with a bit of lip balm and this seems to do the trick.

It would be quite easy to make your own with sugar & oil, or even using an abrasive towel or brush but that kind of takes away the fun of using the product. 
I have caught a few others in my house have a sneaky dip in the pot (Im watching you!) and my hubby likes the surprise sweet kiss I give him every now and then,  so overall a success.
