August Empties

Sanctuary 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask – Boots £2.03
I picked this up on one of my Saturday Shopping hauls on a whim. I was drawn to this because it is made with clay and I have had positive results from other clay masks in the past. I have a few other sanctuary products which I am pleased with so thought I would give this a try.
It has a thick consistency; the clay is a heavier texture than I expected which did drag a little on the skin. The warming sensation is lovely and generally I enjoy using warming masks so it did not disappoint in that respect.
The results were OK, I felt that the mask did cleanse my skin thoroughly but I did not get any further results from using it. Other clay masks I have used gave more of a deep cleanse and gave my skin a nice glow. I would not buy a full size tub; I may pick up a sachet again in future though.

Clarins Iris Toner – Oily/Combination skin - £17.50
I enjoyed using this toner; it has a light pleasant smell and left my skin feeling refreshed and tightened. I am a bit of a Clarins fan so it is likely I will buy this again, however I generally get the same results from most toners I use. As there are cheaper alternatives I may or may not buy this again. I have my Botanics toners to use up first which I bought recently, see my review here, I will compare results of cheap vs. expensive.

John Frieda Crystal Hold Hairspray - £5.40 for a regular size
This mini spray is handy to have on the go in your handbag, I did get through mine quite quickly but I do not like to carry bigger canisters around with me. This is a good hairspray with medium hold; I am not sure how this works well with blonde hair though as it seems no different to me from standard hair sprays. However I would buy this again as it gives my hair the hold it needs.

Redken Satinwear Blowdry Lotion £15.00
This was suggested to me by my hairdresser to add a bit of volume to my hair. As my hair is fine I need something quite light so that my hair is not weighed down. Although this Redken lotion is not specifically for volumising, it is light so I thought I would give this a try.
I added this to the roots after shampoo/conditioning and blow dried the hair while lifting the roots. It gave medium hold, a good everyday kind of blow drying lotion, but if you want a bit more oomph then this isn’t the right product for you.
This lotion is really for smoothing frizziness and adding a bit of control, so I am now on the hunt for something specifically for volumising – any suggestions?
If you are interested in this lotion, it is currently discounted at Feel Unique http://www.feelunique.com/p/Redken-Satinwear-02-150ml

Gok scrub
I got this in a gift set ages ago, it’s been lurking in my draw and I wanted to use it up to get it out the way for a new one. This scrub is very perfumed, it does smell nice but it’s quite strong, I prefer scrubs that have a softer smell. It did work well as a scrub; it had a mixture of small and larger pieces so was quite good at exfoliating and smoothing the skin. No doubt we will be seeing Gok sets in Boots soon on the lead up to Xmas, will I be buying any? Probably not.

Evian Facial Spray - £7.10 150ml
This spray is ideal if you are going on holiday to a hot country as it’s very refreshing. I used this to set my makeup which I found worked quite well and a cheaper alternative to some other setting sprays; you just have to be careful not to overdo it and only spray sparingly. I would buy this again but in the 50ml size (£3.50)

  12. The food is fantastic piping hot (pizza dough) bread sticks arrive immediately along with the French bread in the bread basket. The polenta is so creamy Cognimaxx XL (because its made with real cream). The shrimp pasta is loaded with prawns and the pasta is cooked al dente. http://www.healthsupreviews.com/cognimaxx-xl/
