Budget Vs Blowout

While I was out on my shopping trip this weekend I found this black & white skull scarf in Primark. I know a lot of the shops on the high street are copying the classic Alexander McQueen scarf but I thought this one was  not too bad and the price is £3! can you believe it!
I do have an Alexander McQueen scarf so thought it would be good to compare the two. The first set of pics is the Primark version and then the next set is the real thing

Primark:

Alexander McQueen:

Both together:

So which do you prefer? The Alexander McQueen silk scarf costs £165 compared to the Primarks cotton version £3, so you could buy 55 Primarks for one Alexander McQueen. It is a bit outrageous when you look at it like this! but then the materials are different

What would I choose? well I had already chosen before I even set foot in Primark....

What's going on?

What Kimmi Did Next round up of the week

Im ready for my close up

  • Wedding plans are well under way - flowers - check, photographer - check, cake - double triple check! I had a cake tasting session and OMG the samples were amazing! look at the pic below to see what I plan to have!
  • The diet is going well - I still need to do my Rodial review so watch this space but I have lost 2 lbs this week. I have only exercised once though, but cutting back on food is not leaving me with much energy when I get home and I can not bear the thought of exercise before work in the morning! (I have just read this back and realised I have put `the diet is going well' under a `cake tasting session!')
  • I am off on a shopping trip tomorrow 1) to sort out my mums clothes for the wedding (should be fun....not) and also I am on the look out for a new pastel outfit which I am planning a post about. I am loving the pastel shades which are out at the moment, it reminds me of candyfloss and sweets - but maybe that's just the diet brain taking over!
  • The blog hop was really successful with 45 blogs! I dont think I will do this weekly but maybe monthly? let me know what you think and if it is worth doing, did you find any blogs you like?
  • The winner of my Nails Inc giveaway has written her first post on the set she won. Keep an eye on her blog as more review posts are coming -  http://glam-polish.blogspot.com/2012/01/nail-mail-nails-inc-in-crowd-mini-set.html

Pucker Up Sweetie

I had been given this lip gloss by a friend who did not get on with it and gave it to me to try. I had tried a lip plumping gloss years ago but the effects were not that great so I thought I would give it another shot to see if anything has changed.
This one is from Avon in Stay Pink Pout and claims to last hours but I am more interested in its plumping qualities!
First of all the colour goes on which is a strong pink and then the gloss goes over the top but for me the colour was too pink and so I opted to go for the gloss and just put a little pink over the top. This did not really work as you are supposed to put the pink on first for its staying power and then finish with the gloss (see pics below)
The gloss itself is a good consistency with a menthol like smell, but it gave an odd tingling sensation  (which is the plumping taking action)
Below are the pictures of bare lips, just the gloss then the gloss with the pink
 Before
 Clear gloss
 Pink pigment

As you can see the pink pigment just sat on top of the gloss and did not blend in well so the colour defo needs to go on first,  also because I put in on in reverse I can not comment on its staying power but for me it stayed on like a normal gloss would.

I can't see much difference between the first two - I think if I had vaseline on it would look the same, but then I don't know what I was expecting - I don't want a trout pout!

Would I buy this? no, for two reasons 1) the plumping did not work for me and 2) I cant wear it the way I want to (gloss and then adding colour)

This would be good for someone who wants a really strong colour with a little plumping boost. You can buy this on the Avon site for £5.00

Rodial - Crash Diet Kit

Rodial is well known for its premium skin care, when I saw this kit I was intrigued to know if it was as good as the other products. I could not find many reviews on the web and I usually try and research products before I buy, particularly when is as expensive as this (£99) It used to be £149 but has been reduced, hhhmmm wonder if its because not many people are buying so they are trying to encourage sales?
I have decided to take the plunge, give it a go and review it. I wanted something for the new year to kick start a healthy regime and give my body a bit of a detox.
This pack includes smoothies, energy sticks and a gel, all three are supposed to be used for two weeks with claims of loosing up to 6lb-10lbs in this period and/or dropping a dress size! I am not doing this to loose 10lbs and the `crash diet' name is a bit off putting because it makes it sound unhealthy - but surely for two weeks of cutting down and detoxing is OK?
Fist of all you have a Crash Diet stick in the morning - a powder which is mixed into a glass of water before your breakfast. This is peach flavoured and supposed to give you the boost you need in the morning  and also to get your metabolism going.
Next for either lunch or dinner you have a crash diet smoothie mixed with milk, this is a strawberry/banana flavoured drink and as I said should replace a meal. This is only 70 cals! so I might blitz a banana and put it in there too
The last step is to use the Crash Diet body sculpting gel which is to be put on morning and night and is supposed to break down stubborn fat, smooth out the skin and also help with fluid retention. I am planning to use this on thighs, stomach and bum - I don't want to waste it using it all over (it is £75 after all!)

If you are thinking about buying this then sign up to the Rodial website and you can get 10% off your order! www.rodial.co.uk

The idea is to eat sensibly, still exercise as normal but just to incorporate this into your regime. Wish me luck and I will keep you updated!

I was also given a few sachets of the Skinny Beach sticks which are supposed to be good before going on holiday as it helps develop a tan..
